TEACH THEM WHILE YOUNG: BWB ENGAGES NDIRANDE KACHERE PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

12th June 2025 - The Blantyre Water Board (BWB) today engaged with the vibrant learners of Ndirande Kachere Primary School in an interactive and educational session focused on environmental and water conservation.
The session was designed to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our natural resources especially water and to show how simple everyday actions can have a lasting positive impact on our environment.
Through lively discussions and hands-on demonstrations, learners explored key topics such as:
- Tree planting and forest conservation
- Waste management and pollution prevention
- Water treatment process and proper water usage
A highlight of the session was the Forest Treasure Model, which gave learners a real-time experience of the role trees play in conserving water compared to the effects of bare land. This powerful visual learning tool helped illustrate the importance of reforestation and green cover in preserving our water sources.

Additionally, learners were guided through the actual water treatment process, offering them a unique behind-the-scenes look at how BWB ensures safe and clean water reaches their homes.
"At BWB, we believe that empowering young minds is essential to building a sustainable future. The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm displayed by the learners were truly inspiring, and we are proud to be part of their journey toward becoming passionate advocates for the environment."
